Where would you go?
The foleshillfields vision project wants to encourage people in our neighbourhoods to see ourselves as Community Ambassadors and Roving Reporters when we travel - building long-term links, and recording what we see and what we learn.
Our first Roving Ambassador set out for Western Kenya on July 4th 2006 to develop further links with a group of rural disabled people living not far from the equator.
Later that summer, four intrepid young people from Hillfields and Foleshill travelled to rural Romania to attend a youth peace conference.
HeatherAndMark kept a blog when they and their teenagers travelled around the world for ten months which was the inspiration (and technical training ground) for this website.
And there will be more blogs appearing here
Where would you go? If you're from Hillfields or Foleshill, and have (or want to have!) travel plans, please GetInTouchWithUs for help with setting up and using an online travel journal, or just for a chat about planning really interesting journeys.
You too could be a foleshillfields Roving Reporter and Community Ambassador!

Possible leaflet text:
The foleshillfields vision aims to inspire local people to use the opportunities that there are for travel to act as Roving Reporters and Community Ambassadors, building lasting links between Hillfields and Foleshill and communities in other parts of the world - and providing first-hand accounts of their journeys and new friendships through on-line reporting
- Do you have a dream to travel?
- Want to know other countries?
- Want to know other cultures?
- Want to represent your local community?
Then look no further because we are here to help you make your dreams come true.
Maybe you would like a gap year travel experience but have no money and no one to go with, perhaps you’ve always wanted to visit the pyramids or do some interesting work in another culture, perhaps you’d like to travel with a small group or alone or with one other person.
Perhaps you’d think you’d never be able to raise the cash, or get time off studies to work, perhaps you have a disability and are unsure how to get help, or perhaps you need to think about what kind of travel experience your family would be happy with.
The foleshillfields vision project is working with a group of people (our Roving Reporters and Community Ambassadors - read about their first meeting here) who want to make their travel plans a reality, by:
- Thinking about their plans
- Costing plans up and planning how to raise the money required
- Working with their family (or employers) to get their support
- Organising practicalities (including finding travel companions or volunteer opportunities if wanted); and
- Providing support from this end once travellers set out
In return, we want people who are going to report back to the community about their experiences, who will make good contact with the communities they are travelling to and who will give back to the project on their return by encouraging others to follow their dreams!
