Researching Remittances

In 2005, the World Bank estimated that migrants all over the world sent 223,000,000,000 US dollars (nearly a quarter of a trillion dollars) home to support family. This is more than twice the global international aid budget.

As we've begun to talk to people about the foleshillfields project, we've learned that many, many ordinary people in Hillfields and Foleshill send whatever they can to family in the developing world - and many also send money to help schools, orphanages, or religious groups.

We've begun to ask people at public events for their stories of how FoleshillFeedsTheWorld, and HillfieldsHelpsThePlanet.
