Global Geek Group
Could you help us out with your web, IT and/or design skills and know-how?
We need:
- bloggers, and other (potential) web authors (we want to build a dynamic web presence with international reporting and linking, as well as frequently changing and updated content of clear local interest. As part of this we need to encourage and train our RovingAmbassadors to be Roving Reporters of quality.)
- web designers (we want this site to look a lot prettier - and we need to think well about a range of projects using the web to make global-local relationships visible, and to support those relationships. We want this site eventually to be deeply cool and leading-edge, whilst also fully accessible to dial-up users with older computers, to people with visual and other impairments, and to African mobile phone users)
- appropriate IT technologists (we think functioning, locally maintainable IT and web access might be one of the most powerful gifts we could give to our partners overseas. We already have potential projects with an NGO in Kenya and a school in India - can you help us figure out effective, appropriate help for them?)
- hackers (we run an Ubuntu Linux-based office, and will eventually be moving our web presence to Drupal, building a functioning volunteer CRM tool, and mashing-up with Google Maps quite a lot)
If any of these could be you please GetInTouchWithUs and let us know of your interest.
We're a small local charitably-funded group - world-class help will be very welcome, but we're also looking for keen volunteers with some basic experience who are willing to learn by doing (and maybe improve your job skills at the same time) - so please don't hold back because you might not be technically skilled enough! Enthusiasm will go a long, long way!
